Sensory Integration Support

Helping the Brain Feel Safe in a Noisy, Scratchy, Overwhelming World

If your child pulls away from touch, melts down with loud sounds, avoids certain textures, or seems constantly overwhelmed or shut down, you’re not imagining things. Their nervous system is working overtime, trying to make sense of a world that often feels too loud, too bright, too itchy, too fast… or not stimulating enough.

At Resolve Unlimited, we don’t see these behaviors as “bad.” We see them as signals from the brain. And we offer gentle, body-based support to help your child feel calmer, more organized, and better able to learn.

What Is Sensory Integration?

Sensory integration is the brain’s ability to take in information from the senses (sound, touch, movement, sight, smell, taste) and make sense of it in a useful way. When this process doesn’t work well, the brain either overreacts or underreacts to input, making it hard to:

  • Sit still or feel calm
  • Focus on learning
  • Tolerate grooming, clothing, or textures
  • Engage in play or social connection
  • Eat a variety of foods
  • Feel safe in new or unpredictable environments

Our approach focuses on building the brain’s capacity to handle input more smoothly and respond with more flexibility and ease.

Tools We Use for Sensory Support

Fast ForWord®

Children with sensory challenges often struggle to process spoken language, especially in noisy or unpredictable environments. This mismatch between what they hear and how fast their brain can make sense of it can add to the overwhelm and make learning, listening, and participating even harder.

Fast ForWord is a neuroscience-based program that helps the brain process language more efficiently. By improving timing, sequencing, and attention, it reduces the cognitive load required to understand speech. As the brain becomes better organized, many children feel calmer, more capable, and more connected to the world around them.

Fast ForWord helps lay the foundation for sensory regulation by strengthening the brain’s ability to take in and respond to input more smoothly, making everything else a little easier.

TalkTools® Oral Motor Program

For many of our clients, sensory challenges show up unexpectedly around the mouth in the form of picky eating, food refusal, gagging, speech struggles, oral seeking (chewing everything), biting, or total avoidance.

The TalkTools method uses fun, play-based tools like horns, chewy tubes, and bubble straws to:

  • Improve awareness of the mouth, cheeks, and jaw
  • Support calm, rhythmic chewing and swallowing
  • Increase tolerance for new textures and oral input
  • Lay the groundwork for clearer speech and feeding success

It’s a gentle, regulated approach that works well even for children who struggle with traditional therapy.

The Listening Program (TLP)®

TLP uses specially-filtered music to support better organization of the nervous system. For children with sensory integration challenges, this can:

  • Reduce sound sensitivity
  • Support better emotional regulation
  • Calm hyperarousal or sensory-seeking behaviors
  • Help the brain and body feel more “in sync”

TLP is a great starting point for children who are highly dysregulated or shut down, helping them feel more grounded and open to further support.

Sensory Challenges We Support

We specialize in working with children who:

  • Avoid touch, grooming, or certain types of clothing
  • Seem “always on” or constantly moving
  • Have trouble sitting still or regulating emotions
  • Avoid or seek out certain sensory input in extreme ways
  • Are highly picky eaters or have oral motor delays
  • Feel easily overwhelmed in busy, noisy, or crowded spaces

These children often don’t respond well to traditional therapy models, but they thrive in environments where their sensory needs are respected and gently supported.

What You Might Notice Over Time

As your child’s nervous system becomes more regulated, you may start to see:

  • More calm and flexibility in daily routines
  • Better tolerance for textures, clothing, and grooming
  • Expanded food choices and reduced mealtime stress
  • Fewer meltdowns or shutdowns in new environments
  • Improved ability to engage in learning or play
  • More comfort in their own body

And perhaps most importantly, your child may feel more at ease in the world.

We Start Where Your Child Is.

Sensory regulation is not about pushing your child to tolerate more, it’s about helping their body and brain feel safe enough to explore the world at their own pace. Every activity, tool, and recommendation we offer is customized to your child’s needs, tolerance level, and developmental readiness.
