Dyslexia and Reading Challenges

Gentle Brain Support for Children Who Struggle to Read

Some children just don’t take to reading. No matter how hard they try or how many times it’s been taught. It’s not that they’re lazy or not interested. It’s that their brain isn’t wired to process language the way most reading programs expect.

At Resolve Unlimited, we work with children who have more complex needs, those with developmental delays, significant learning disabilities, autism and others. Those who may not benefit from typical tutoring. Instead of forcing the issue, we help build the brain’s ability to understand language more clearly so reading can become easier, more automatic, and less stressful.

Reading Support That Builds from the Ground Up

Most children with dyslexia or reading difficulties aren’t actually struggling with reading itself, they’re struggling with how their brain hears and organizes sounds. If the brain doesn’t clearly hear the difference between sounds like ba and da, it’s incredibly hard to connect letters to those sounds, blend them, and make sense of what’s on the page.

We use a combination of neuroscience-based software and brain-healing listening programs to help the brain become better at:

  • Picking up on sound differences
  • Holding on to what was just said
  • Processing information quickly
  • Paying attention for longer stretches
  • Feeling calm enough to try again

Tools We Use for Dyslexia Support

Fast ForWord®

This online program was designed to improve how the brain processes speech and sound. It’s filled with fun, game-like activities that help your child:

  • Hear sounds more clearly and accurately
  • Build a stronger memory for language
  • Recognize patterns in spelling, grammar, and syntax
  • Understand what they read, not just decode words

Each activity is adaptive, meaning it meets your child where they are and slowly increases in complexity. Many families begin to notice gains in attention, language understanding, and reading confidence within a few weeks.

The Listening Program® (TLP)

TLP is a calming, music-based intervention that helps the brain organize and process sound input more smoothly. It’s especially helpful for kids who:

  • Are sensitive to sound or easily overwhelmed
  • Can’t yet engage with screen-based programs
  • Seem “tuned out” or disconnected from speech and reading

It’s a great foundation for deeper auditory work and helps improve emotional regulation, which is essential for learning.

For Nontraditional Learners

We specialize in supporting children who don’t fit the mold. We support the ones who have multiple diagnoses or who’ve been left behind by traditional academic supports.

That includes children with:

  • Significant speech or language delays
  • Cognitive disabilities
  • Sensory processing differences
  • Autism (especially Levels 2 & 3)
  • Low frustration tolerance with reading

If your child has been stuck, overwhelmed, or shutting down during reading tasks, there’s a reason, and we’d like to help you get to the root of it.

What You Might See Over Time

Every child’s brain is different, but families often report:

  • Increased ability to sound out words
  • Better reading comprehension
  • More confidence and fewer meltdowns during reading
  • Improved listening and following directions
  • Less time spent struggling with homework

Even small shifts can make daily life feel calmer and open the door to new possibilities.

You’re Not Alone

We know how frustrating and emotional it can be to watch your child struggle and not know how to help. At Resolve Unlimited, we walk beside you with gentle, brain-based tools that are tailored to your child’s unique pace and abilities.

If your child isn’t ready for direct reading instruction, that’s okay. We meet them where they are and help build the cognitive foundation they need to get where they’re going.
